This front-of-house photo (one of a set of eight, used to promote the release of Come Play with Me in April 1977), pretty much encapsulates everything a film student will ever need to know about British cinema in the Seventies – an ugly man (Cardew Robinson), beautiful girls (Suzy Mandel, Mary Millington and Pat Astley), preferably dressed as nurses, and lashings of saucy humour… It’s easy to forget that Come Play with Me is Britain’s longest-running movie of all time.
